It’s been a few days since I have arrived at Oxford. Despite the long haul from Melbourne to London to Oxford, I haven’t been encountering jet lag. I have spent this weekend preparing for the week ahead and visited many of the colleges and museums in Oxford.
Irish poet William Butler Yeats once said: “I wonder anybody does anything at Oxford but dream and remember, the place is so beautiful. One almost expects the people to sing instead of speaking. It is all like an opera.” Per Yeats – I could not agree more. Coming to Oxford – there is a mystic, an aura that I have not experienced anywhere else. I feel so blessed and humbled by the opportunity to study at Oxford.
Right now I have to admit it is hard to concentrate and study. As I am reading my course materials, particularly a business case, I cannot help being distracted to the sound of bells, birds flying across the quad and a couple of fellow Oxonians playing croquet. I think I may join them, make new friends and come back to reading later.
